Frisco, “the City with the Heart of a Town”, is one of the fastest growing cities in the North Texas Metroplex with a population of over 55,000 in 2003. Its home price average at $235,000 and it features many golf course home areas.
Frisco is approximately 27 miles north of downtown Dallas and is between The Colony and McKinney, the Collin county seat. Its gateway is considered at the intersection of Highway 121 and Preston Road and its main artery is the Dallas North Tollway one mile west of that burgeoning retail area.

Frisco rates below the average rate for property taxes in the eight communities that surround it. Its government is a city manager-city council format.
POLICE/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
The Frisco Police Department spawned a program called Citizen’s Police Academy designed to give its citizens a view of daily operations to foster understanding of its public servants. A spin-off program called “Citizen’s On Patrol” or “COPs” allows volunteers to become trained observers to assist the department. Active Neighborhood Watch areas also contribute to the control of crime through their high profile involvement.
Relationships between students and police are solidified through the School Resource Office program. Officers are assigned to all middle schools and high schools to foster good relations. Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) teaches the students to say, “NO!” to drugs and alcohol.
EDUCATION
Parent and community involvement is encouraged in the Frisco Independent School District where the student to teach ratio is 14:1. School-business partnerships have been developed as well as extensive mentoring. Currently there are 14 elementary schools, four middle schools and two high schools. An additional elementary school, middle school and another high school along with a Natatorium are scheduled to open in the winter of the 2004-2005 school year. Frisco is also a part of the Lewisville Independent School District.
Collin County Community College District offers one of its five campuses in Frisco at the Preston Ridge Campus. The award-winning CCCD offers over 100 degree and certificate programs to credit and continuing education students.
DINING
Dining in and around Frisco could not be easier. Choices from fast food to exquisite are found. Check out the Abbey, Texas food in a restored church building, or try La Hacienda Ranch with its cowboy memorabilia mounted for all to see. From Italian to Irish, pizza to cheesecake, fish to fajitas and “down under grub”, your palate will be very pleased!
SHOPPING
The historic downtown Frisco caters to the shoppers desiring small shops, boutiques and antiques. Several small restaurants offer great food with some history on the side. Almost all the downtown buildings have been beautifully restored. But when it comes to “power shopping”, the combination of The Centre at Preston Ridge and Stonebriar Centre simply cannot be beat. Upscale shopping through the name brand and elegant choices in both centers is a shopper’s paradise. Add in movies, ice skating, carnival merry-go-round, cattle drive sculptures and fun and history mix beautifully for the entire family.
ART
Visitors to the Centre at Preston Ridge are treated to the longest continuous-themed bronze sculpture collection in the United States with longhorns on a cattle drive. The Centre is on the Old Shawnee Trail which later was renamed the Preston Trail. The sculptures are even found in the parking lots of The Centre!
Cattle sculptures and waterfalls are discovered in the Frisco Bridges Office Park where walking, biking, family picnics and photography are favorite activities. At Hall Office Park one finds the Texas Sculpture Garden containing over 30 contemporary sculptures and can take a self-guided tour through this private property.
SPORTS and LEISURE
A “whizzing” fast ball, snap of the bat, roar of the crowd and taste of hot dog and peanuts lets you know you’re having a grand ole time at a RoughRiders baseball game in the new Dr Pepper/7 Up Ballpark in Frisco! With its inventive seating structure, individuals and groups enjoy a variety of seating and pricing to provide anyone a memorable time. With shuttle pick-up from the large shopping centers nearby, even parking is a pleasure at this ballpark.
The Texas Tornado Hockey is the latest sports team to hit Frisco and is flying high with excited fans in the new Dr Pepper StarCenter. The 20,000 seat Frisco Soccer and Entertainment Center is due to open in time for the soccer season in April 2005 and is the new home of the Dallas Burn Soccer team. It is being touted as the preeminent soccer facility in the United States.
Both private and public golf courses are available in Frisco and miniature golf is popular at the Hank Haney facility. Tennis lovers have many courts from which to play and instruction is available for beginners and intermediate players.
Neighborhood parks with walking trails, basketball, softball/baseball courts, playground and tennis courts abound throughout the Frisco area. Lakes and ponds for fishing add to the serene atmosphere of many of the parks. A natatorium and exercise center is available for residents as well as the outdoor community pool. The Frisco Senior Center is ever-growing in its popularity.
A short drive from Frisco finds several lakes for fishing, camping, boating. Some have sandy beaches, a children’s playground and picnic shelters. Add restaurants and rental cabins, sailing and guided tours, and a vacation for a day or month is set.
